Super excited to have one of my favorite designs featured in the latest issue of Charleston Style and Design Magazine. You can read about how I designed a home for a fellow architect whom I have known since our college days at SCAD.
Well...I have the island bookended! below is a rendering for the tail end of the island (see what i did there..ha!) This home has been approved by the ARB and is in need of a family....I teamed with Novella Homes to bring you my first high end spec house....
And the far end of the island is coming along nicely as well. Windows and the WRB Barrier have been installed....siding should start in a few weeks....and electrical and mechanical systems are about 90% complete.
It is always a nice surprise when I come across a pic or two of some of my latest, completed projects. This past year I have had 12 designs under construction and I can't wait to have some photography to share with you all. In the meantime, you can see some screenshots below from their online issue. Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July! I have a few big summer trips coming up....one of which will be to visit with a new client in NYC.
I feel like I have been slacking on my blog posts...I feel like you blink and months go by! Well, I have been very fortunate to have been working with some great clients this past year. They have given me beautiful properties to develop and I can't thank them enough for their desire to design and build the best home possible. I have also been enjoying my Drone for site analysis, terrain mapping, and construction administration. As someone who loves designing wild roof lines, I love how I can begin to see them take shape......especially this one.
Shout out to Nichiha for featuring one of my homes on their website! I love their products and will continue to specify them when it suits your design.
It was quite an honor to be able to sponsor one of the dinners at Gourmet and Grapes this year! We raised more that $425,000.00 to support the Medical University of South Carolina's Hollings Cancer Center. You can find out more about the yearly event here: gourmetandgrapes.com
If you are looking for an acoustically treated wall and ceiling that can achieve a fire rating and provide great sound insulation....look no further.
It is always an interesting conversation with clients when I ask "so, how smart of a home are you after? semi-smart, kinda-smart, or full blown TMI at your fingertips?" The connected world can make things easy, or just add complication, to an already tricky ecosystem of managing a home, family, and work.
My Sunday morning began my lady, my pups, and a cup of coffee with the latest Architectural Digest. A few items jumped out to me as I skimmed through the pages before tossing it into the recycling bin...some silly, some pretty cool:
Schedule a week's worth of coffee or order up a cup from your smartphone while lying in bed.
Now the lady in my house says this is the dumbest device ever, but I think it's kinda cool...at least for me. It's inevitable that I will forget a few items when I return from the grocery.
Same goes for this item by GE. The FirstBuild Milky Weigh
Automated Ovens for those who struggle making a meal
Miele Ovens and more recently, Dacor, have ovens that can control, monitor, provide recipes from control panels that mimic your tablet or smartphone....not too mention send you text updates when your meal is ready. Check out Miele products here
And now for my FAVORITE new tech device I found for your home this month:
It all starts with the addition of a wireless transmitter under the slab of your Corian brand countertop surface. From there you can charge smartphones and tablets by simply placing your device on the surface above the hidden charger, thus eliminating the need for electrical outlets and cords that can clutter up your workstation.
